how to get oil spots out of a light blue shirt

The oil is #30 in my hydraulic system. Wind sprayed the oil from a leak from a wagon lift cylinder. Wife's laundry method didn't wash the oil spots off. Any laundry suggestions on what will get the spots out? Thanks.

Jokingly, I told my wife I could soak the whole shirt in hydraulic oil, then the spots wouldn't show!

I treat oil and grease spots with full strength dish detergent prior to washing. Usually works.

Wife uses this stuff. She has gotten stains out of shop rags that were over 10 years old, stained with grease and oil.

When she washes, if stain is still there, she'll repeat. eventually that stain will be gone. Haven't seen a stain get the better of her yet since discovering this stuff.

Treat it with Goof Off spray, then full strength Simple Green. This concoction still works even if you mess up and run the shirt through the dryer. Just keep treating it and the stain will disappear in no more than 3-4 washes.

Also Lesstoil. Old product but it works pretty good. First stop .....take it to the dry cleaners. They can get almost anything out.

I spray the oil / grease spots with Flow Away (Kano product) degreaser and it works every time without damage to the material. Any engine degreaser should work.

I'm a first time poster, but have been reading sporadically for a while.
I work with a spot removal expert, he has recommended turning the shirt inside out with the spots against a few paper towels and then spraying the spots from the back with electrical cleaner. Afterwards dab the spots with the paper towels and then wash in cold water. If you wash it in hot water you risk making the spots permanent.

ACG ..... Not sure I'd line up to wear it after the shirt was in a "bowel" of oil, or a bowl of bowel oil .... LOL !!!

I second Oxy Clean.

My wife and I use it all the time on obnoxious stains. I don't know if it will work on something that's already been through the washer. I think it works best on something before it goes into the washer.

It would have been funnier if you were the first person to come up with it.

The laundry oil pre-spotter that my company makes uses potassium hydroxide as the primary active ingredient. Rough rule of thumb: If it is formulated for immersing your bare hands in it isn't going to be very good at cutting petroleum oil or grease
