If you think that the US farmer gets too much government money look up what the average EU farmer gets. That is the only way little dairies can make it on the Swiss Alps and other such places. That is one of the many reason that the average EU citizen pays a HUGE amount of their earnings in income taxes.

And you guys think it is fantastic when you get a bunch of tractors together
for a ride in the country. These guys don't fool around. Couple of years ago
they brought loaded spreaders from the farm ..and yes they spread it. My
opinion.....this is what starts when there is too much government interference.
Too far this way and then too far that way. The nuts are doing it in DC Right
now. This one is in NYC. just for yelling at an illegal. And they WILL make it
stick.!

True, in Europe the taxes are crazy, but remember their health care payment is included. The goal is to stay self sufficient within the country. Subsidies and tariffs work the same way.

Hannity has been telling them to come and arrest him all day, and he broadcasts from NY.

The main reason, as I understood it , for this
demonstration was because the farmers had
become fed up with being blamed for climate
change, producing CO2 in the atmosphere with
livestock production. All of this after this Greta girl
stirred folks up with her climate protest marches. I
will wager everyone that went on these marches
either ate before or after or since the march, which
unfairly targeted farmers. Wonder if they know
where the food they eat comes from?

Some how I can't see John P Public Citizen feeling too sorry for those fellows driving their $200,000+ tractors with heat, air and Sirius Radio to town to cry about how rough they are having it.

Mike ...... I think you are flattering yourself. Why would a comment on a tractor discussion forum possibly get you into legal trouble? Looks like I'm the only guy that might have even read your reply. Go for it Mike, make a reply and live life on the edge .... LOL !!!

Crazy Horse,
I've thought about it for a bit & I'm going to reply in my own post this evening. There are too many things that I have to get off of my chest & I would like to mull it over for a day. That way I can give a proper response that's succinct & does not reek of hubris, hummus & foul language. Also need to clean up the yard after the storm last night. There's a few branches down & with as much rain we have received, last night, I'll have to drag everything to the brush pile by hand.

Thank you for your encouragement,
Mike

It sounds like they are protesting out of frustration because they don't want to change or don't know how to change. That is ironic because farming is an industry that is has long been based on constant change, innovation, advanced technology, increasing automation and continual consolidation. Today one person can farm as much land as five did a generation ago. Now-a-days there are more seventy year old farmers in the USA than there are twenty year old farmers.

The protesters run a huge risk of convincing the public that small farmers are against climate control and are incapable of implementing any climate control, therefore small farm are bad for the planet and are against other people's health and happiness. If they are not careful about their message, they could windup protesting themselves out of business.

If that also happens in the US it could be very bad for continuing the many regulation exemptions that US farmers now enjoy. Most farm production is commodities. Large farm can produce commodities as easily and efficiently as small farms. Like it or not, it is is much easier to work with 100s of large farms that are willing to work to the same rules and regulations that apply to every other business in the country than it is to work with 100,000s of small farmers that feel they are entitled enough to refuse to accept regulation and change.

Bottom line: Be careful what you ask for.

Bruce, was at a meeting on cattle grazing on public land and a woman was speaking against it and when asked where her meat would come from, proudly said " From the store".
