John Deere 70 gas flywheel bolts? Torque?

I needed to replace the flywheel starter ring gear on my John Deere 70 gas. Should the two flywheel bolts be replaced? Grade 5 or grade 8? Some say that grade 8 may allow for to much pressure and the flywheel could break. Also, what are the torque values for the flywheel bolts? Thank you.

its not necessary to replace bolts unless the threads are damaged. I would use grade 8 if replacing. what size bolts are they , 3/4 " or bigger??

Make them as tight as you can and then a little more usually does it. Use the old ones over unless they are damaged. Put a new flywheel o-ring in while you have the flywheel off too. Might not hurt to look at the spacer also.

Clean dry splines . Clean with alcohol or similar . New grade 5 or 8 bolts . Iirc factory was 208lb ft and 275 is absolute max.
