Old dealer up the road has this starter for sale, says it may fit an 8n....... doesn't look right to me. Any idea what it goes to? He says it's a Ford.

Ford 9-N for sure, 2-N and maybe 8-n's. The 2 long bolts hold the starter to the tractor, be careful not to let the starter come apart, if you take the 2 nuts off it can and will slide apart- then you have another project getting the brushes back in place. Not too hard to change just have two 5/16 nuts when you remove the old starter. joe

I'm not sure what it fits, but every N series starter I've ever seen
had a straight, round shaft. Not one with grooves like that has.
The big bolts on the spring don't look right for an N either.
