Farm show fun

Our demonstrations at the local farm show this weekend. Appleton 4 roll shredder and Eureka portable sheller powered by 6HP IHC with sons helping. Hard to get a decent pic of the shredder as it is surrounded with wagons.

How many bushel per hour on the corn sheller?

I'll take a wild guess at 30. Thanks for the pictures, nice equipment.

Second photo is just NUTS, standing by/reaching across the drive belt, DUMB!!!

In SHORTS, no less!

No, the bundle feeder guy isn't nuts and neither is he reaching through the belt or over it. Actually he isn't even close to it. One of those camera angle deals. He is probably 5-6 foot away from the belt.
What he is doing is feeding the machine table as it was designed to be fed. Same as most every other husker shredder I have ever seen. the bundles are fed over the belt with the hand feeder guy on the opposite side. If you want to play safety nark how about the guy hand feeding it? He could stick his hands in several sets of belts and gears should he desire or stick his foot in the husking bed. It's no different than any other machine that is 100 yeats old people with no sence or awareness should stay 50 foot away.

No matter WHAT may have been considered "OK" "back in the day" by some, I was taught many years ago by my late Uncle (who was from "back in the day") to have ultimate respect for a loaded flat belt.

He was certainly NOT a "safety nark", and he had a few stories to back up his "healthy fear" of operating/loaded flat belts that mite just change your mind a LITTLE if he was still alive to tell you them!

Things can happen darned fast!

As I said stay 50 feet away if you fear
moving things or have no sense, its the
best place for you. We are neither nuts,
nor stupid.
