Chopped over 40 acres today. A lot faster than we ever did on our farm. First time for me driving along next to the chopper in a truck.

Did the chopper driver stop when the truck ahead was full? Or did you pull up beside the truck ahead so that he could switch over to you without stopping?

Greg; Must be all that water in Texas tilted the US a little today. HeHe The only farmers around here that are making silage corn are Young's in Cherry Valley, and Sprague's to our north outside of Fort Plain. -------Loren

Showcrop,We got lucky a few times he would be full at the
end of the row. Usually he would stop. We needed one more
truck as he had to wait for us once in awhile.

Loren, The field was pretty rough. Empty I lost a side board it was pretty rotten and was quite the goat path. I have pictures of my dash and the ground trying to get a picture.

First time I drove the truck, it was a '47 Studebaker 2 ton with 24,000 miles on it. The main bearings rattled like a machine gun going up a slight grade (of which there were many in the field). Then I got to run and ancient 'A' for compacting. Got paid with a side of beef (primo) and a kerosene fridge and a Blue Heeler pup. They raised registered Hereford breeding stock. Anarchist Mtn. B.C. (Harfmans) Also had beef at every meal !
