Heading on a road trip

Heading on a road trip going to the badlands then Yellowstone and then maybe to see the redwoods in California we will be staying over night in Iowa city then onto the badlands tomorrow any good sights in between Rick

Mitchel SD has the Corn palace! They decorate the outside of an auditorium with corn each year. Kinda similar, IMHO, to Carhenge in Alliance NE-'just cause you can, doesn't mean you should'! It's definitely different!

On a side note, there is a 4000 HP natural gas turbine compressor station about 15 miles from there.

I put that one in.

If your staying in motels avoid them in west Yellowstone Montana,we stayed there in late August and cheapest place was 189 bucks a night. There are rooms and cabins to rent in Yellowstone park but I didn?t check the prices. If your planning on visiting Rocky Mountain national park I think the road to the summit is already closed for the winter .have fun

Pioneer tractor and old town in Murdo, SD. Wall Drug in Wall. Spearfish Canyon Drive is top ten USA, See the huge prehistoric animals on Skyline drive in Rapid City. Take a dip in gravel bottom Hot Springs pool in Hot Springs. Roosevelt always went there for his problems. Custer State Park, and for sure the Needles Highway to Mt Rushmore. Forget Crazy Horse Monument. Fake tourist trap.

Went to Yellowstone a couple years ago, a room at the hotel was about $400. We stayed at a "lodge" in the park nothing fancy (no A/C but no need) was about $270. Lodging near any National park is a crap shoot. If you're not in a large vehicle and don't mind a little pucker factor in your drive ALT 14 is an interesting drive from near Sheridan WY to Cody WY. Time your travel to avoid National Parks on weekends. Old Faithful wasn't too exciting the first time and even less on the second visit. Personally I prefer Glacier National Park over the rest but that is just my opinion.

Spend a day and night in
Keystone , SD , Mount Rushmore
in Keystone there is a nice train ride that takes you up into the Mountains.
Keystone nice town to spend some time .
