A perfect day to make firewood

Well, I headed for the woods about 1:00pm this afternoon. There was not a cloud in the sky and temp about 67F. I had around 2-1/2 cord of firewood logs at a landing all blocked and ready for splitting. I am a 1 man band so wifey followed me up with the PU to bring me back and get my other tractor and wood trailer. I got at splitting about 1:30. Took a few breaks, along the way. Jon F called and as usual that took a while, but my processor got anxious and screamed for me to get back to work HeHe. I topped off the load with small rounds and headed for home with the 431T and processor and then went back up to get my 440 and the wood trailer. I sure don't set any records for amount of wood cut per hour anymore, but every cord plus load I bring home adds to my reserve at this point, and tonight my back doesen't hurt although I lifted some pretty big blocks without the block lifter.
Life is good tonight

Bro,, Very Glad to hear things are working better!! Great Pics and love those Case units you have! Glad I did not call today and interrupt a working Man!! Poor jon's purple leg and foot has him treading lightly I am guessing still
cnt

I built the trailers so the tractor carries a good portion of the weight and also I wanted the rear of the box to stay high when raised in the dump position. I unload the wood off the tailgate for stacking and don't want to bend over. The wood on this load weighs about 5200lbs. I had to buy new 15" trailer tires to carry the weight. Used PU tires didn't cut the mustard.------------Loren

Jon called on his way home from work today. He said that he was still limping, but the brusing was starting to itch. A good thing I guess. He told me that he went to see his son the chiropractor. He said his son went to a drawer and pulled out a gun and one round. HeHe. Never a dull moment.--------------Loren

The Rollag thing was minor and just irritated my already shot knee. This issue is much worse and happened last week. According to the best Dr in the world, my son Cameron, I have a torn muscle in my calf on the right leg. He didn't offer any treatment, just handed me an old rusty revolver and a bullet and told me there was a path into the forest across the street. Not sure what that means.

Loren,
Glad life is good tonight. Always enjoy your wood cutting pics... and the incrdible line of equipment you have made for yourself.

same here in Mid Tenn. but low humidity so didn't seem bad but I did stagger when I got into the barn. Heat stoke creeps up on you in this weather.

King Loren,
I think you are the King when it comes to making firewood, The King of Redneck Engineering. When most people make firewood, it's a back breaking job. You use your tractors and engineering skills to make the job look easy.
What can I say? You're the greatest. Where did you get your Redneck Tech degree?

Another perfect weather day today, I'm envious, lol, 40 some odd logs stacked, not one blocked or split yet. Might have to bolster a weekend or 2 with a vacation day.

That?s a masterpiece in wood handling if you ask me. Looks like a really great setup to work with!

Absolutely nothing redneck about his equipment. Nothing at all.

Very professional fabrication. Calling his work redneck is an insult IMO.

used to do that around here wood for house and shop, built split er and used skidsteer large bucket to haul. nowddays went radiant heat in shop geothermal in house. now I actually get shop work done instead of wood gathering. admire you ambition yet

Love to see your firewood operation, nice old tractors being put to a practical use makes it even better.Too hot here yet for me to get in the firewood mode, hoping I can trade some
Walnut a furniture maker wants for him cutting me some firewood.

I cut up 10 loads of ash in April, it all came from my neighbors front yard from 5 trees. The smallest tree was 28" at the stump & the largest
one was 54". All were slowly die'n & needed to be gone.. Being they were in a yard we feared metal in the trees & no one wanted the logs. I have
no wood to cut this fall, I don't have an empty wagon to put it on. When you cut split & load, & haul all the wood from 5 trees in a yard? You are
only 1/2 done, my neighbor who's had a stroke unable to do this type of work any more, I cleaned everything up & burnt the brush, reseeded the grass
all that's left are the stumps. I also gave away 3 one ton dump loads away. We didn't find any steel in the trees. He has 9 more to cut behind his house
most of them are over 30", I know what I will be doing in the spring. 22 growth rings ago, these tree grew over 5/8 of inch each year for 6 years straight..

I know some people just can't stand to do so, but couldn't you just leave one tractor out in the woodlot? It is family property, after all. Or are those Case tractors so nice they would dissappear overnight...
