need to change the ring gear on this engine and trying to figure out how to get the fan off. no screws looks like it snaps on to some plastic posts. has to be a way to get it to release but didnt have enough time last night so figured i would ask today. thanks.

I have no idea how to do that, but isn't that the motor that is so prone to early failure?

lol I misread it when I saw it posted! I
thought he was making a post stating he
was a fan of the Kohler Courage engine,
and I was thinking that he must be the
first! lol! (Not picking on the original
poster, you can't choose what engine the
manufacturers decide to put in something,
no matter how bad it is.

Yes, it pushes down over the plastic posts, there will be a bolt with a washer underneath that first debris screen that holds the actual cooling fan on it

ok thanks; it pushes over the platic posts. how do i get it off the posts? looks to be a small plastic tab on either side of the post; do i need to get them all rleeased before the fan will lift off? tried doing it on just one post but the fan might be too stiff to allow it to lift off of just one.

Yes, I believe you'll have to get them all 'released' and work it up slowly and evenly, or I believe you'll crack it.
