Posthole digger attachment

I have one more thing to say before I go and I won't bother you gentlemen anymore. Probably won't believe this but. I went out and done drilling with my attachment idea. I was drilling with 8 inch auger think it's 42 long or something. Dirt dry, with just a little Clay mixed in. I could drill from start to finish in 60 seconds with out having to stop because my auger was stuck, didn't have to go up and down every 6 inches to make sure I wouldn't get stuck. I started my P. T. O. dropped my 3-point drilling attachment the auger caught like always but now I don't have to stop drilling to get my auger out because it doesn't get stuck. I pull up once to clean hole. Down again with our stopping, clean hole again. I'm done! It used to take me 15- 20 minutes or more to drill one hole because I had to work my stuck auger out. I'm thinking from 15-20 minutes to 60 seconds is pretty good. Every situation is different and all soil is different. Have a good day!

Thanks for posting, but I thought your attachment was just a stop to keep it from going too far down.

I read all the discussion on the
first post. I still have no idea
what you came up with. Do you have
any video of it working?

I love this auger. It has reverse. And I can use it on a nice sod lawn.

Well I have not had any trouble in over 20 years with a post hole auger. Bought a Danuser auger just like this one.

I can't even start the tractor for what I can hire a guy with a skid loader and auger to come and dig all my holes. Never gonna mess with that stupid tractor mounted auger again. Ofcourse if you'd like to share your idea, maybe I'd reconsider. maybe.....gobble

As I said in the previous post and as some others have said. IMHO by far the most efficient PHD is one that is hooked to a skid steer. I drilled many holes on my farm as well as my brothers farm. The
neighbors hire me to drill their post holes because I can accurately drill clean post holes much faster than a rear mount 3pt PTO PHD can. Haven't used a 3pt PHD in over 20 years.

Don?t know, but I had a 3 pt auger once. Blasted thing would only go down about 6 inches. Stopped as soon as it hit the rock. Problem was there was
only one big rock on the farm. It was under the whole farm and most places less than 2 feet deep.

Solved the problem by buying a wrecked F700 Telelect digger derrick. Was gonna make a trailer out of it and pull it behind a tractor, but got the thing
running and driveable enough for farm use. Then I could dig holes. Bedrock, concrete, etc it didn?t care. That carbide auger was something else.

Tony hate to burst your bubble but skid steer does not even come close. I HAVE HAD BOTH AND A MINI EXCAVATOR one is twice as good. Here is why I can start the hole and with skid steer you can only go forward or backward to influence the direction of drill but with the mini x I can also lean left or right by swinging the boom of the excavator. Also reach I can reach up on the side of a bank and drill where you can not drive a skid steer. I do admit hydraulic driven digger is only way to go, easy to back out if one catches a root or rock. I love my excavator mounted digger.
