Enjoying the nice little tractor pull at the Okawville, IL Wheat Festival. Riechmann Brothers John Deere dealer puts it on.

I been around pulling most of the last 60 years but don,t think I have ever seen a sled set up lit
that one. Also awful long hook chain. Looks like the drive tire may pull the trailer up on the pan
as the thing goes forward?

Yes, the drive tire pulls the wheeled trailer onto the sled. The part where the tires go into the sled is staggered. That way there is a smoother addition of resistance.

That sled is neat. And the old tractors
pulling it are even better. Our tractor
pull is full of JD As and Gs and whatever
else. A couple guys show up with something
different but the JDs are almost all one
family. Took my Farmall Super M completely
stock through once and no it didn't win or
finish the track even close. The announcer
said what a great tractor but it belongs
in the field. Never took it back. I
appreciate the stock older units
anymore... Might not always make 300 feet
or whatever it is but it's interesting
what they can do.

At the "Antique" class of the pull at our county fair, they pull the same Dominator sled used by farm classes and into the night of the pros. But, the antiques hook to a closed-loop hydraulic cylinder and they read the pressure exerted on the sled by the tractor. It's supposed to make the widely-ranging sizes of antiques a bit more even.
