Oliver 1750 injection pump

I an hauled an Oliver 1750 this morning that has not been run for years. Should the pump be pulled before trying to turn the engine over? Supposed to have been parked because of a bad radiator. We winched it on the trailer so as not to turn the engine over. It has a 310 engine.

How many years??? I would probably pull the pump and injectors send them out to be checked, cleaned, rebuilt etc. I would also clean the fuel tank and all lines and new filters. Also change all fluids. That's just my opinion though. It may run with fresh fuel who knows.

You could try to start it, but if the hydraulic head is stuck drive shaft will break. Most pumps will have stuck internal parts after setting awhile with today's fuel.

Thank you for all your replies. I was quit sure what they would be just confirming what I told Kerry.

why would you spend a lot of money on a tractor you nothing about pulling the pump and injectors and having them tested is going to be expensive 9 out of 10 times it will fire right up

I'm pretty cheap so I'm not planning on spending much. I plan on pulling the injectors and testing them myself on a pop tester, setting the pressure they open after I check them. Also I'll mark the timing of the injector pump and remove it before I try to turn the engine over to prevent damage to it. If the pump turns ok I'll put it back in at the same timing before I turn her over.

That was really the main question, is it safe to crank w/o checking to see if the pump is stuck.
