Need advice from a Redneck engineer

I want to attach a push mower to the side of riding mower to mow ditch bank.

Pictures would be nice.

George, I saw just what you need at a new equipment farm show yesterday. It was a Ventrac 4WD articulated tractor with a boom arm mower on it. It could reach over guard rails to mow other side, or down over pond banks, or up on ditch banks. Available with nice cab, duals all around, and I believe even a GAS engine. It was the ultimate REDNECK-ALL-TARRAIN mowing machine. ------------Loren

George: If you have access to the latest issue of Farm Show magazine, take a look at the two examples of such a hookup on page 16. One guy named Larry Drader specially made a side mounted mower for ditch banks.

And priced right at ONLY three bazillion dollars.

Google is your friend.
Just search "ditch bank mower attachment" and then click on "images" and you'll see all kinds.
Most look to be heavy duty industrial type but if you scroll down far enough, you'll see home-made and shop-built machines including a few push mower creations as you inquired about.

Well, George, if the sight of you coming down the street on your mower doesn't already strike fear into the hearts of your neighbors, that oughta do the trick.

King,
You are the King and have all the Gold. A poor guy like me has to rely on redneck engineering skills to use what he has and make do.
Aren't there any YT members with redneck engineering degrees?

Mark when you live in the country there aren't people to worry about. Besides I don't care what anyone thinks of my redneck engineer.

A lot of farmers have mowed ditches with cycle mowers. A 7 foot cycle mower will reach much further into a ditch than a 22 inch push mower does. How steep is the angle of the ditch? A Pitman cycle mowers can handle some pitch and the belt driven pitman-less cycle mowers can handle a wider range of angles.

If you live out in the country and you don't care about people thinking yer an idiot or redneck then why do you care what they thing about the grass in a ditch? Just asking?

Rick

I put an offset hitch on an old 22 inch push mower so I can pull it behind a small 4-wheeler, works great for mowing trails, you can figure it out!

What is a cycle mower?

> What is a cycle mower?

Yes, I too was picturing a two-wheeled, pedal-powered lawnmower, which would be pretty cool. Then I realized he was trying to say "sickle mower". Bummer.
