Ford 335 push rod bent?

I was running my tractor yesterday and I gotten a load on the tractor and I started to heat knocking tinging. Pretty loud... when I accelerate it gets louder. Sounds like it is coming from the valve cover. What would I need to do on something like this. If it s not to hard to take the valve cover off and fix it I ll do it. Need help please. Thank you guys

Valve cover is easy enough - just don't
overtigten when you put it back on, or it
will leak.
But why do you think it's a bent push
rod? That would cause a miss, as that
cylinder wouldn't be able to breath.

Gas or diesel?

Either way, it needs immediate attention.

Remove the cover, look everything over.

Could be a bent pushrod, but it is unusual for a pushrod to bend under normal running conditions, but it happenes.

Look for a broken valve spring, backed off adjuster, broken rocker arm.

If a valve has excessive rocker clearance, something caused it. Could be a bent valve, dropped seat, failed lifter or cam.

A rocker with zero clearance could be a dropped valve, not what you want to see...

If diesel, could be an open injector, especially if it was smoking and knocking.

Steve it is a diesel. Would a bad injector knock pretty loud. I found out the water pump is leaking and did run hot. Before the knocking occurred. But I changed oil and filter and it did quite it down a little bit I think. What s my first step you think ? Remove valve cover and check everything out. Can I use gasket maker to seal it off when I put it back on and let it have time to dry before cranking.
