Starter Bendix

I need to lube the bendix on my John Deere AR. I usually put a little motor oil on it. I wonder what others use that maybe works better and doesn't collect dirt.

It has always been strongly recommended to never lube a Bendix. Any oil based lubricant quickly attracts clutch dust and will cause it to hang up quickly. If it would really make you sleep better you could use some graphite, but the correct practice is to assemble it and install it as clean as possible.

I lube mine also. engine oil is fine. but remember in cold weather it may not engage due to the oil being sticky.

You got it showcrop. My starter bendix I lubed with a spray graphite that is
used in bakery ovens on the tray pivots. Graphite is what is recommended. There
is something called Drylube. Similar product.
