Extra temp gauge on T-190 Bobcat/Kubota V2003T?

Since my client has destroyed two Kubota heads due to overheating...one ruptured coolant reservoir and one faulty thermostat, Any quick ways to add a manual temp gauge or other POSITIVE thermal warning system to avoid this $2000 repair from occurring again?

I would think somewhere there is a switch available that would shut the engine down when it overheats, I know in industry they are common. Digi-Key might have something.

Add Murphy switches. Can be wired to an alarm, or a shutdown for overheat or low oil pressure

As MSM said Murphy switches work well.

Other option would be to set it up like an overheat alarm on a boat motor, a simple sending unit/switch, a relay and a car horn.

Get it too warm and the whole neighborhood will know.

Very helpful AND funny comments.

I agree that the operator needs a tuneup. The idea of wiring a switch to operate a warning device makes the most sense...either a temp sensor that activates a buzzer or delivers a high voltage spark pulse to his left one....

I will review the Murphy switch idea. I'm reluctant to have the whole rig shut down as a warning alert. Could be bad....

There are a bunch of options for temperature sensors, some are adjustable etc. Another option is to use an aftermarket automotive electric cooling fan controller, instead of operating a fan, it can turn on a light or buzzer.

YOU need to contact the owner and operator. ALL CT 190 s have a build in system ,warning lights for low oil pressure, high engine coolant temp, high hydraulic oil temp and low charge pressure on the hydro drive. First a warning light comes on then if the problem continues unit has a audible alarm then in last resort goes to shut down mode. SOME one has disabled what you are trying to add. Take a look at the upper right dash when you turn the key BEFORE start those lights should come on.

Will notify the guys...good info, saves effort. I guess it's a matter of fixing the short circuit between the headphones...
