Wanted to also know if I have one of those casting prone
block like everyone talk about my casting number is
607294C1

Some blocks did crack and that is why the C4. That means it is the fourth version. But, it also does not mean that C1 or C2 even went into production as the changes may have been made already. Not saying there were not C1 or C2 just that is the way corporations do things.

Also, there never was a recall as it was fix as fail if in warranty like most things that are improved a jillion times along the way. So, if it failed a few years down the line, well.

A D-361 block would crack also but usually that would have been on a turbo engine like the 1206. I only saw one.

In 1980 I was looking to but a 1256 with the 407 , I remember very well friends of mine that farmed 9000 acres to stay away from the C1 block it was prone to crack around the cam shaft and all they had was IH did there own engine work
