Found a REALLY nice Ford 3910 on Grand Forks, ND craigslist. Thing of beauty for $1600. Ok, it's either a scam or it's gone. That's odd, the map shows somewhere in Ohio. Did reverse lookup on the phone number, and it's a local ND number but VoIP like skype or something. Pictures didn't come up anywhere else in google. Oh well, what the heck maybe it's my lucky day. Called and texted the number. Get a text back asking for my email so they can send more pics/details. I just asked them where the tractor is located. I'm sure I won't get a response. Even if the tractor and seller exist, Ohio is an awful long ways from here. Don't worry, I'm not going to get scammed, but it is kinda tempting to see exactly what's going on here. I'll keep you posted if I get a reply.
 
Same thing happened to me on Minneapolis Craigslist, only it was a great deal on a golf cart. I left a message, got a text back wanting my email so he could send pictures. That was as far as it went for me. Couple weeks later it was back on Craigslist, same number different location.
 
I just looked, and it's gone! Probably a scam! Looks like a nice size tractor, but if it was in decent shape that's way to cheap, don't you think? That's how they get suckers, offer something too good to be true to a knowledgeable person. Now, if you want a nice old guitar, there going to be one on craigslist soon that's not a scam!
 
They are harvesting e-mails, that is all they wanted you e mail sells for about twice what a good phone number sells for. Get ready for the adds.
 
Only respond to Craigslist ads through the secure mail feature. That way both your email and the seller's are masked. Anything else is probably a scam.
 
I put a 6' bush and bog harrow on CraigsList and within two days I got emails wanting to buy the harrow. They said they would send me a cashier's check and then their 'agent' would pick up the harrow. The scam was that the check would bounce after I deposited it but by then they'd have the harrow. Apparently, this is a common scam with CL items. I sold the harrow yesterday for cash, by the way.
 
I didn't give him my email. Didn't need details or pics. If it was legit I woulda been on my way with cash no questions asked!
 
Oh, I flagged it for removal. Sorry you didn't get to see it. But yeah, it was priced at about 1/3 of its value I think. Old guitar you say? I used to dabble a bit on a resonator. Haven't opened the case in years though.
 
Was it sitting in a paved drive in front of a nice white older house? Same tractor/ad here in Michigan, was listed as Ann Arbor but map location showed Traverse City about 4 hours away.

A Nigerian scammer isn't interested in your junky old harrow; it will never be picked up. The standard scam is to send you a bogus check for greater than the purchase price and convince you to wire them the difference.
