Do you remember what you were doing when the planes crashed into the towers. I was heading to jury duty. Got there and the day was cancelled. I still remember where I was President Kennedy was shot. Some things you just don't forget. Stan

On 9/11/2001, I was working for an insurance company. At 8 am I'd just sat down at my desk and took a phone call from an auto repair shop in Brooklyn, NY. (9 am there). While we were talking business, there was some yelling in the background. The fellow checked it out, came back, and said an airplane hit one of the World Trade Centers, but they didn't have any details. While we were talking, more info became available. I kind of got an eye witness description as events unfolded.

It turned out, also, that our daughter was three blocks from the Pentagon when the plane hit. She was Multimedia Manager for a Borders Book Store at the time in Pentagon City.

I remember both.
I was building my new house and stopped for lunch when the twin towers fell, pentagon and the other plane crashed. It was all over the TV by then.
I was in Catholic school when there was a knock on the door, Sister Edith told us President Kennedy had been shot. We all knelt and started praying.

I wasn't alive when Kennedy was shot. I figure I was probably the last person to hear about the attacks. My normal routine is to get up and turn on the local news while eating breakfast. For some reason I just didn't feel like it which was rare. I went outside and started working. Around noon I decided to go after some front tractor tires I had ordered and were supposed to be in. I got in the truck and drove 20 miles to the tire shop and didn't even turn the radio on which was very rare for me at that time. For some reason I just didn't feel like listening to it either. When I got to the tire shop they had a radio on and that was the first I heard about it.

I was in school when jfk was murdered.
The day 9 11 hit was installing a pinion seal in a ford f 150.
Remember gas price went ballistic till our president stopped them from further jacking prices?

I was in school when JFK was shot, don't really remember. For 9/11 I was building a house here in the mts overlooking the Hudson Vally. We had the radio on and heard a plane hit the towers, thought it was a small plane, as we listened we learned more. Watched it on TV that evening.

W 3rd and LaGuardia place working on an NYU building, this unfolded to the south in the background, we had a front row seat with this in view. While we will never forget, some aspects of this I'd personally like to forget with all the horrific things that took place in front of us. Took awhile to come to grips with this and for me, some aspects of it are best left alone.

I was at work, my now ex wife called and said a plane had crashed into a building in NY.

I asked, a small plane, that's happened before...

No, an airliner!

While I was on the phone the second one hit.

Someone tuned in the news on a radio, it all started sinking in.

When Kennedy was shot, I was in 2nd grade. The principal came over the intercom and announced it.

There was little reaction from the teacher, not sure if she didn't want to alarm us, or was just so clueless she didn't understand or wasn't listening. I remember some of the girls started crying, the teachers gathered outside in groups.

Later the principal came back over the intercom saying he had died.

I remember where i was when both of these tradgies occured i will never forget it seems a lot of people have forgotten or never really cared.

On 9/11 we had finished housing our tobacco the evening before, and I was taking my sweet time after breakfast going outside. I had put my work boots on, but felt compelled to come back in and turn on the TV. About that time they were showing the twin towers and the second plane hit while I was standing in front of the TV. I stood almost in a trance, almost unbelieving, for about an hour, and finally sat on the sofa and watched some more. I later got up knowing things were never going to be the same. Mark.

When Kennedy was shot, I was in the second grade, and the announcement came over the PA. I don't remember much being said about it-too young for it to sink in, I guess. Mark.

A good friend of mine was flying a Sikorsky S-76 right underneath the first one that hit. He had dropped his passengers off at the downtown heliport (Wall Street) and was returning to Teterboro Airport. He was so shaken by what he had seen that it was much later that afternoon before he could get in his car and go home. And he had won 47 Air Medals flying combat missions in Viet Nam.

The three events that you don?t forget are the JFK assassination (was in 6th grade; a girl who went to lunch at home nearby came back and told the teacher/principal and we all got sent home); the Challenger explosion (was at a Trade Show at Alpine Valley, WI. The entire group migrated to the bar to watch TV. The show was a bust after that); and the 9/11 (The whole office and shop stopped work for a while to watch on TV in our conference room. There were volunteer fireman among us who commented on how difficult a fire that would be. Then the towers collapsed).

I was putting in grain drying floor in 36ft grain bin I had just moved to my place. when my dad came down now and said well its started. he had been in world war 2. kennedy I was was in school

Walked in to the cleaners and left my uniforms and as I opened the car door the radio came on about Kennedy , and I took my normal cake and milk snack at the local quick stop as I walked in the second plane hit. I sat there for over two hours even thou I had customers waiting at the shop. Unbelievable that someone could dream up that plot and carry it out. For some reason I feel this country is forgetting who and why they did it.

On 9-11 I was in 9th grade. I didn't go to school that day because we were burying my great grandfather. I turned the news on for some reason that morning just after the first plane had hit. I had no idea what was going on until then. Watched the second one hit as I was getting ready to go to the funeral home. Like others have said, some things you just don't forget.

Was on my way to work and heard it on the radio, the KQ92 morning show. An interesting tidbit is that that shows recording is now in the Smithsonian because they were the first media outlet to say it was a terrorist attack. They talked about all that morning, and on all the anniversaries since.

Was working as a NYS Trooper in the Ontario border. By 1PM myself and about 50% of the rest of of the Troopers in the state were headed to NYC. Was standing in front of the Bull on Wall St the next morning. Sad so many seem to have forgotten.

I was at work, but our son was working in a building just a few blocks away from the towers, he called my wife, she called me. They were quarantined in the basement of his building until it was all clear and then he had to walk home to Brooklyn, across the bridge, with a horrible sight behind him.

We were hauling cedar out for posts for a cattle corral. Knew nothing about it until I came home and turned the tv on.

I just went on coffee brake working at a Home Depot Expo store. The guy from the coffee truck says " a plane hit the world trade center " . Me " oh , that ain't going to do anything , a plane hit the empire state building once too." We went back in the building and none of the sales people could get a phone line. Howard Stern was all serious on the radio . Girls from Home Depot were crying. I told the super I had to go home and watch TV . He told me we had electrical work to do . I said we are under some kind of attack I'm going home. My coworkers in Jersey City watched the whole thing. Cars of the deceased stayed in train parking lots as there was nobody left to drive them. It was a bad, bad day

Was 2 when Kennedy was shot.doing work around the house when I came into the kitchen to get a drink of water, the tv was on and I saw the second plane hit.could?nt believe it.Can?t understand how a lot of people support a person that said with a smile about 9/11?someone did something? when almost 3000 Americans died.did?nt hear a peep out of her yesterday

Walked into welding shop to have work done. Nobody in work area. Went into the office and they were watching it on tv. The first plane had impacted the tower. I was 8 years old and at school when the Principal came in and told us the President had been shot.

I was 19, working on the home farm, when JFK was shot. Just finished dinner, listening to WCCO radio, out of MPLS. When the towers was hit I was finishing morning milking on this farm, 12 days before we sold the herd. Went to the house and saw the TV reports, watched the 2nd tower get hit. Then the reports about the Pentagon, the WH evac, and the plane in PA. My brother, lifetime Army, often worked at the Pentagon, but not that day. I knew not to check on him, but he screamed "get off the line" at my sister, who lived in MD and was concerned about him. Why do people do that- they can"t do anything about the situation, yet they tie up phone lines.

18 years ago in NC i was getting ready for a mission trip to build a church in Odessa,Ukraine. We were leaving at 2 PM for Atlanta to go to Washingtom then to Vienna, where we would got to Odessa. Needless to say, we were not flying out that day. We left two days late.
When JFK was killed I was ferrying a damaged Cessna Skylane from Medina Ohio to Dayton to get the prop repaired. As I checked into the tower at Mansfield Air force Reserve Base, at which time they warned me to look out for jet fighters taking off and I was to land ASAP. I had to land there and stay for a day till I could get clearance to proceed to Dayton.
When the challenger blew up I was watching the plume from Cape Canaveral from a roof in Naples Fla. where I was installing a solar system when all of a sudden it came part. I have seen enough for several lifetimes. Now at 88 I want to be calm and peaceful

I was at work, Lockheed Martin working on aircraft avionics. We got a call from the boss who said America had just been attacked and they sent us home for the rest of the day. I came home from work in the morning and my wife was surprised to see me home so early, I told her to turn on the TV to a news station and we watched It unfold from there. I still remember some news coverage that a bunch of people from Middle eastern countries were celebrating dancing in the streets...

I was working at a Mont Rail link roundhouse.
We all came in for coffee and the boss called us in the office to see the news.
As we were watching the live stream, we saw the second plane hit the other building.
It was almost hard to believe.

Basement hallway at work, coworker informed a plane had hit but no details of size. Probably another half hour before receiving more details and they opened up the big conference room with the 20 ft TV. Passed that same spot in the hallway probably 20 times today. JFK to early for me.

I'm old enough to remember both tragedies. When JFK was killed I was a trucker traveling the Pa. turnpike and when I got off an exit the man in toll booth told me. When the twin towers was crashed into I was setting in a lounge chair in the hospital getting a Kemo treatment for Colon Cancer. I remember them both very clearly.

I certainly do remember the day well.

I arrived at Natural Gas COMPRESOR STATION # 7 (180 miles North of the Washington Sate border).

Driving to the Compressor station,I knew there would be one 10,000 HP gas Turbine online, two 10,000 HP Clarks and four 4,000 HP Nordberg's. I walked into the control room to ask the Shift Engineer for his past 12 hour log book.

He had the look of horror on his face! The gentleman pointed to the TV in the lunch room......as the two of us walked into the lunch room there was a replay of a PLANE disappearing into a Tower!

As a Canadian, I had never felt as much pain for our Neighbor the "USA" like I did that morning. Dam near made me sick to the stomach.

Canadian Airports immediately stepped up, hundreds of flights were diverted to Canadian Airports.

Bob....
