Electronic stuff

Electronic stuff drives me nuts. I guess it's because I don't understand it. I always did mechanic work at my factory job. If there was an electrical problem the plant had people that did that repair. My GE dryer quit working. So the logical thing for me to do, is buy a new electrical control board. So after ordering one, the thing started working. I guess my question is: will the control board I just ordered, go bad just sitting in a box on the shelf if I don't use it right away. Stan

It should come packed in an anti static plastic bag. Store in a cool dry place. Like a shef in your laundry room. Thats it.

It will last indefinitely.

What kind of problem did it have? Any fault codes?

There are several overtemp safety switches. Sometimes the lint builds and blocks airflow causing it to shut down.

There is also a centrifugal switch on the motor that has to close to let it know the motor is actually running before heat will come on.

Sometimes a good cleaning is all it needs.

The machine was stuck on air dry, nothing else worked. Then like magic it worked. I was getting ready to make a clothes line from bail twine. Stan

How long was the delay between when it stopped heating and you ordered the board? maybe the over temp safety reset. First thing to do on a no-heat dryer is to clean the vents and get rid of the lint. That will fix 90% of them.
