Will a 1/2 ton pickup pull a Kinze 400 ok?

I have neighbors / friends who have easily transported 500 bushel grain carts with their 1/2 ton pickups. Many of these carts are like the John Deere 500, Brent 420, EasyFlo 475, etc. I know Kinze carts are over built, plus the discharge auger is up front. Will a 1/2 ton pickup handle a Kinze 400 for 30 miles? Thanks

No, I am not scared. Just wondering if they are balanced like the newer side discharge grain carts.

I personally would not us a 1/2 ton. The smallest I?d consider would be a 1 ton. It?s not just tongue weight to consider but more important braking ability. If you have to stop fast, you might jack knife.

I pulled a 500 bushel unverferth with a one ton and I wouldn?t want anything much smaller on it . For 30 miles I?d go for it though you can go slow 20 or 25 the ytdot thinks the only way a load can be moved is at 75 mph throttle right to the floor most modern automobiles are variable speed at least the ones I?ve seen?

Who you kidddin? Half ton NOO WAY.its dangerous, got any hills? Gravel roads? Want to stop?consider other motorists. First thing it weighs more than your pickup bigger size wize.
Pulled a brent 500 bushel 90 miles with a 1 ton and was all it needed. And every bump yanked you.29 mph it bounced hard so 25 was it.
This is how we see those farm related accidents we look at n say how the he?????

It will be no problem provided that you have a way of being positively sure that no kid is going to ride their bike out right in front of you. Or some little old lady pull her car out right in front of you. Otherwise you can lose everything you own.

I would find something with more tail so to speak. Stopping suddenly could be a major problem. The closest equipment dealer uses their road tractor for things like that based on observation.

(quoted from post at 08:56:11 08/30/19) Y'all say use a tractor, but do you know what size tractor he has?

No, but it makes no difference because we know that if he is going after something that big that there has to be a good sized tractor in the picture somewhere. Right?

Most modern tractors will clip along at 30 mph,1 hour there and 1 back. Myself,I would just use the tractor.

haven't had one that small for 20 years but a 3/4 ton chevy will pull it no problem, put it on a 4020 what a load for that tractor

Caveat Emptor!!!

I watched the whole video, but stopped being impressed at the rubber & oil submerged oil pump drive belt. This is only one of the many components that is going to fail prematurely and cause catastrophic engine failure. Diesel engines are just too risky and expensive to take a chance on, you are their R&D. Seriously if anyone researches this engine design and still buys one they are one of two kinds of people, 1. An idiot, 2. not going to keep it after warranty expires.

Honestly, they won't all explode prematurely but this engine is going to produce many saga's and horror stories.

4play you need to contact GM and straighten them out on that belt!!!! Explain to them in a nice manner that it is impossible to develop a rubber compound that will withstand hot oil. While you are at it tell them to stop using rubber fuel line. They have tens of millions of people on our highways at risk of death by fire!!! Another thing, did you know that they are using plastic in motors? They can't possibly last more than a few months. 4play you need to set them straight!!!

Thanks for the comments. I guess I will either run after it with the neighbors one ton or take the John Deere 4440. I personally know people pull the lighter ones with a 1/2 ton, but I think the Kinze is heavier at the tongue.
