Another How Much Does it Weigh?

Could tell you if I was in the shop...I have charts. But, I know that a 5x8x 1 1/4 thick makes a really big BANG! when it falls over...first college job was PT in a machine shop, and the half-ton hoist let go when the sheet got vertical. It was a side panel for a 4 foot wide plywood sanding machine.

depends on the alloy. If it's tool steel, it's a lot heavier than a low carbon steel. Density of steel ranges from 0.28 lbs/in3 to 0.31 lbs/in3.

Right now nothing really thinking about buying because it'll be cheap, might make a welding table out of it.Also thought about cutting it up to make slab weights.

That's what we made our shop benches from. Put a vice on a corner.
Sometimes when doing welding assembly, we would tack weld the pieces to the
table top until they were stable enough to stand on their own.
When we got done, we'd take an 8 in. disc grinder and smooth the top down again.
I even had a few 1/2 holes drilled and tapped in my bench to hold things in place.
If I had to drill holes in a fairly large/long piece, I'd put the Mag Drill on the
table. The table provided a lot of support for long/large pieces. Plus you could
move the Mag-Drill as needed also.

That will make a great welding table or heavy duty work bench!

That's what my welding table is, 3/4 steel plate. Good square corners for fabbing up frames, keeping them square.

The edges are about a foot out past the frame, makes for easy clamping. The thickness of the table keeps it from getting too hot and warping.

We also have a super heavy duty free standing work bench, it's also 3/4". About 8 ft long, 3 ft wide with a trolley hoist overhead for doing die work.

The vise is on the other end, romp on that thing with all you got, that table goes nowhere!

All these scientific answers and so, so very far away from the truth.
The weight of most any object is directly proportional to the part of your body that is painfully injured when you drop it.
When it does hit you, did you pass out, scream or simply cuss?
Bleeding adds points.
