sound deadening pads

I have a year-a-round cab on my tractor. I have seen sound deadening pads/rolls of material at body shops for automobiles. Does anyone have any experience with trying to minimize the noise in an aftermarket cab? What worked best? I have lined the cab with "cab foam" but that didn't do too much for the noise level. Thanks

I went at it from two different angles on an old roadster that I am finishing up now. I bought and installed Dynamat pads, and I have also applied a lot of ice and water shield. The Dynamat reduces the amount of sound that can come through a panel from sound generated on the other side. The Ice and water shield inhibits the ability of the panel to produce sound from vibration by bonding to the panel and preventing vibration. The Ice and water shield of course costs a lot less than the dynamat. I have only about 90 miles on it but I am very happy so far. Since you have already tried the foam component, I suggest two layers of I&W shield then the cab kit.

What tractor are you working with? The old "ear-beater" cabs were all directly open to noise from transmissions, rear ends, engines and hydraulics, and they amplified those noises similar to setting a coffee can over an alarm clock. Even the best of the were all significantly louder than the same open station tractor. Those cabs did provide good protection from the cold, the wind and rain.

You might be time and money ahead to invest in a tractor with a more modern factory cab that is isolated from the tractor, and has air conditioning.
