Tracking an Original Owner--JDA A

Hello All:

I am wondering if there is way to track the original owner of a 1950 John Deere A? I have the serial number, and have been told my great grandfather bought it brand new. However, would just like to verify this is possible.

I realize this may be a long shot, but though I would check on here.

I appreciate any feedback.

Do you know what area the tractor was sold in? Place an ad in the local paper there as many older people still take the local newspaper. The record may still be in an old building or somebody's attic or garage. I'll admit that the chances are very slim that you will find any records but it is worth a shot as some old time dealers hung onto things such as records. I know of upwards of six former dealers who hung onto things such as old invoices.
