Hyd, clutch adjustment on 1066 international

Good afternoon everyone,

I have an international 1066 that is in need of a clutch adjustment.

Little back story, I have had multiple issues with the MVC pump and the main hyd. pump, and have replaced the MVC pump and everything works as it should other then the clutch. When I removed the MVC pump, I had to remove the hydraulic booster and the linkages to the clutch, now I fear I have got the linkages out of wack. When I shift the tractor into gear it goes in good, no grinding or stickiness, but as I let the clutch out, it doesn't engage until the very end of the peddle and comes on with a lurch. It on or off it seems.

Now do I need to adjust the dump valve, linkage, TA linkage, not sure where to start. I have the manual, but since the tractor is so "tired" need to do it more by feel. Where would you guys start?

Thanks

Go to the I H page and look thru the archives on clutch adjustment and T/A adjustment i have covered this so many times it's not funny . The main clutch free play between the clutch pedal and the floor plate on a 66 series tractor is 5/8th of and inch . The rest of the FEEL adjustments qare the same from the 06 on up and they are covered in the I H page archives.

So what happens if the linkage between the clutch pedal and the booster is out of adjustment? Does that cuclinder need to be in a certain position?

Dump valve is your main problem, but first, adjust the clutch linkage on pedal end just so it starts to engage the booster with no slop yet no pressure on booster piston. Then adjust clutch free travel on rod between booster and clutch arm that goes into housing. You want about 5/8th inch at pedal but main concern is that the throwout bearing does have some clearance between it and fingers, Like 1/8th inch at least.

Now, you adjust the dump valve so the light comes on when pedal is depressed and that the light goes out just before the main clutch starts to move tractor. This allows TA hydraulic clutch to fill before main clutch engages. Takes a little tweaking. Adjust transmission brake with pedal held down, tight pin up to l 1/2 turns of tension against brake. Least amount it takes to be able to shift into gear without scratching gears after a few seconds of wait time after depressing clutch at moderate engine rpm.

Also, make sure the dump valve fork is not dragging on the dump valve due to position unit was bolted down.
