The early Deutz tractors were water cooled. The first of the air-cooled single cylinder tractor was about 1947. The Duetz 11 F1M414 (11 HP) single cylinder diesel tractors started production in 1936, with lights, pneumatic tyres, crank start, PTO belt pulley and side mount mower was quite innovative for its time. When production restarted after the Second World War they changed to a four forward speed gearbox and seat became deeper. They also had a replaceable sleeve for the cylinder. They were replaced by the F1L514 (15 HP) single cylinder air-cooled diesel which did not have the risk of frost-cracking the cylinder block.
