need a solenoid for the pullin front end on my 4430, deere wants 350.00 for one, anybody know any after market cheaper?...?.part number AR81175

Do you need the complete valve cartridge, or just the electrical solenoid coil?

Typically, the coil would be what would likely fail, or has damage befallen the complete cartridge?

Measure the ohms on the exciting terminals. If you get a reading, not open circuit, take it apart and clean up the high current contacts. They get pitted over time and as they pit the conducting area decreases. Finally gets so small that it can't carry the 300 amps (give or take) needed by the starter. Sometimes you can flip over the disc to the other, smooth side, which is what I do regardless of how bad the using side is pitted. Cleaning up the ⅜" copper contact area is no biggie to accomplish.

Some are in a metal crimped can which can be pried open and re-bent back. Some are plastic, held together with rivets which you drill out and replace with hardware.
