Hi that is alomost a litre of ATF ? do you really add that much ? to the diesel tank ?, I have blueish smoke all the time with popping/ backfiring occasionally especially when its going for a while,need to plow my field and affraid i ll bugger something up, I kind of sounded like when I opened the injector lines a bit that number 2 injector didnt change the engine sound at all, think it could be just the nozzle?
 
I have used a up to a gallon of atf In a full tank of fuel to help clean an injector up . I have even ran a Diesel engine on straight hydraulic oil with no problems . There are also many good commercially available injector cleaners available
 
Hi, if the ATF doesn't help take the valve cover off and check the valve clearances and check for bent or sticking valves and rocker arms..
Worst case is a blown head gasket between two cylinders, very easy engine to work on, there are youtube videos for B414 head gasket replacement basically the same engine.
