Anybody know what this stuff is??

Garage where I park a couple of tractors (to keep it on subject). Dirt/gravel slope that I spray with glyphosphate occasionally for the weeds. This stuff started with small spots three or four years ago and there's more each year. It's a light brown to brownish-green, slimy looking like wilted lettuce. Seems to thrive in wet times but after a dry week with sun it turns black and crispy. A little rain and it plumps right back up.

Today I got up the nerve to pick some up. It's not slimy at all and feels like soft rubber, no smell either.I'm thinking it's some kind of fungus as the glyphosphate has no effect.

I don't know what it is but I have the same thing in shady spots of me driveway. First noticed it last year. I'm in W. TN..

Have also had a small patch show up now and then in extreme NW Minnesota. Shows up on edges of gravel road and along ditches with lots of gravel in the soil (kicked off the road by snow plows).

Ewwwwww. There is too darn much ugly stuff that grows out there. Why can't everything be pretty flowers. Oh wait, even they can be invasive. Like that purple loosestrife stuff. Started as an ornimental for landscape gardens from Holand. Up in norther NY You see the stuff all over the place. Best way to control it is hand pull it. This photo is about five years after it gets introduced. Grows like crazy.

I?m in Deep South Alabama, I have the same stuff here to in my gravel driveway, I hit it about twice during the summer with Roundup. It comes back every year....

ag guy here says it's a direct result of spraying weed and grass killer, does something to the soil. its a fungus,

Guess that explains why it's on our gravel roads. The county sends out a truck every year to spray overgrowth in the ditches.

Gee, aren't chemicals wonderful?!?!? :? (<-- that's a joke guys)

I got the exact same stuff. I'm in north central Ohio. First noticed it a few years back ? I posted about it on here then. IIRC I googled lichen (sp?) and saw similar images.
