My dad used to say there were steam engines and steam tractors. Steam engines had skinnier wheels and were mostly just mobile power units. Steam tractors had wider tires and were used in fields. My guess would be that if it was muddy neither would would be used.

Great video sms!

How can people on the streets just walk and drive by like that's nothing to see?

If I saw something like that, I'd be all over it!

Probably burning coke, a byproduct of coal gas production. Almost no smoke emitted.
Saw it used in London when I was 16 years old. 51 years ago.

Last time we were in southern England we caught up to this farm wagon with a like a forage box on it doing about 10 to 12 MPH on a narrow country road and every time it came on a small hill we could hear this
chucking noise and it was not until it pulled off the road to a fair ground did we get to see the steam tractor that was pulling the wagon.

Thanks,
I never thought of tractors being used on roads. Why don't they use trucks instead of tractors?
