Old Chevy truck extraction.

For those of you that like old trucks.

My dad found this old 1951 3600 in a building that was falling down and after a year or two was finally able to grab it. My son and I helped with the extraction. It was a fun day and as the old newspapers used to say, ?a good time was had by all?. After pick up we ate at the smallest town in Nebraska. Anyone know where that is?

Nice truck! Glad you were able to save it.
When you start working on it join the forums over at Stovebolt.com. You will find out everything you need to know to get that truck back on the road again.

That is it. Monowi is one town over from Verdel Liz runs the cafe. The walls are lined with pics with celebrities that have stopped in. Didn?t look at all but a lot of Larry the Cable Guy.

Thanks for the comments. It was fun.

Didn?t notice the sign on that feed store said Tilden but it is not the name of the town. Must be a last name of family that owns it.

Best go get it too. A lot of good parts on it if nothing else. With both stacks covered bet I could get it freed up and running in no time.

5 window was a deluxe option. They could be purchased either way. 5 windows are more desirable to collectors but we are not as particular. We have low standards.

Hmmm. I?ve got a ?50 5-window project. In my defense I?ve also got a ?54 donor. I believe ?53 was the last of the 5-window option.

I am in the middle of restoring a 1947 (late) 5-window 3600 that belonged to my wife's uncle. That one is in excellent shape! Been through Monowi several times, but not for years. I live in Missery, but am from SE Nebraska (Tecumseh).

Ours was a 49 but got rid of it in 76 with body falling apart and not being able to get brake parts. Came in family when it was 3 months old. And we had that sun visor, only thing with them was seeing close up stop lights. 7:00x17" tires. Ours had the turn door handles, you should have the push button style.

In the photo in front of the Legion hall what is it that's mounted on the truck right below your son's left arm? It looks like a set of flare pots for use if you breakdown on the road.

Nice find, looks to be in great shape to start a restoration or just get it running and drive it. Don't remember when those white "wagon wheel" painted rims were popular but maybe that's the last time someone fooled with it.
