Picked this up yesterday and drove it home about 250 miles from West Plains, MO. 283 with a three on the column. Got 12.5 mpg on the trip. I'm not going to say how much I paid for it in public.....
(quoted from post at 09:21:10 08/05/19) Nice ride, but 12.5 mpg? 4.10 rear end and a 4-barrel?
(quoted from post at 20:12:36 08/05/19) I had two of those over the years. One was a 283 with the two speed Powerglide and the other was a 283 with the three on the tree and factory overdrive. Loved them !
(quoted from post at 21:23:39 08/05/19) When I ws in high school I worked for the cattle feeder down the road. He had the GMC version. I'm thinking it had a V-6 Could that be right? Anyway that three on the tree linkage was worn and if you didn't shift it right it would get stuck in 2 gears. Had to pup the hood and get in there with a long screw driver and pry it out. You learnd real fast how it had to be shifted.
(quoted from post at 08:43:13 08/06/19) GMC had a v6, exclusively.
