All I got in my manual is start at
Central location and alternate
back and forth. Any special
pattern? Thanks.

That is pretty much it. But you do also have to re-torque them after you have warmed it up. So did you find out if it is a bad head gasket or do you not have the head off yet

be sure you clean out the holes so as not to hydraulically break off a corner of the block!

We are pants shopping this morning for growing teen age boys.... hopefully get to it this afternoon.

Just squirted a little Free-all on the head bolts. Looks like some are bolts and some nuts? Also a couple have washers under em? What do think that's all about?

Yes

The OEM bolt was 7/16-14 x 2 3/8 grade 8.
Several dollars a piece if you can find them.
7/16 -14 x 2&1/2" yellow zinc finish grade 8 bolts from the hardware store for about $1 work if you put some washers under the head to take up the extra length.
