The Wife and I drove 90 miles South yesterday and watched Big Boy #4014 come through Bell Plaine, Iowa--Wow it was well worth it! I have seen a lot pictures of it but until you see it in person and up close you haven't really seen it. It stopped in the town for about 20 minutes and we were allowed to touch it and take pictures.---Tee

Nice pics.

I drove over to owatonna MN and saw it there. It was delayed over an hour, so it started raining shortly after it arrived, but it was worth going.

LOL yep I drove across the state and saw it at a short stop in Bruno MN. 155 miles. Well worth the drive.

There are three stationary ones in "museums", St Louis transportation museum St. Louis, MO
, a park in Cheyenne, Wyoming and another in a park in North Platte, Nebraska. Maybe more. They are impressive even not operational.

We drove from Ann arbor mi to west Chicago to see it. My son is big into steam trains. I figured we would never see one out on the rails again in my lifetime or his as it is so expensive to operate them. Hats off to union Pacific for making this treat possible. Goes to show big business does do nice things.

Just type in Big Boy Union Pacific into YouTube and you will find many really great videos!

I took the kids to see it yesterday in Marshalltown. VERY impressive.

Union Pacific Big Boy #4023 is on static display at Lauritzen Gardens in Omaha, NE. It is on the north side of I-80 on the west end of the Missouri River bridge.

Here is a link to Union Pacific Historical Society pictures of trucking 4023 up the hill.

The remaining Big Boys: Forney Museum in Denver; Steamtown in Scranton, PN; St. Louis; Green Bay; Omaha; Frisco, TX; the one in the park in Cheyenne, and this one.

A couple of days ago it was about fifty miles south of me in Rochelle Ill. but I decided I had stuff to catch up on before surgery next week.

My daughter and I saw it stopped at Adams, WI last week and moving at 2 road crossings the next day. Shot video at both crossings but I can't figure out how to post them. It is an impressive machine. Will keep trying with the video.

Saw it today parked by Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines. Could hardly get near it, must of been over a thousand folks there! Leo

I'm not a big railfan, but being an old retired phart with nothing better to do,I did go to Rochelle to see it.Big durn thing.Really crowded down there.I,m not sure it left under its' own power.no puffing of steam near the pistons.I think the diesel three tenders back was pushing

Well as much as I used to cuss waiting at a crossing for a train to go by I kind of miss them now, maybe I should of went to see it.

I thought the same way--they wouldn't run that big diesel just for a generator....
