Wife is looking at a left over new 2018 Outlander. Anyone have any experience with Mitsubishi? 100K mi powertrain waranty, rust through warranty, lots of safety stuff, drives nice, about like our rusted out Escape in size. We loved our Toyotas. Anyone had any experience with Mitsu, good or bad?

Not newer. I had a 1986 Dodge Ram 50, built by Mitsubishi. Was a very good little truck. In fact, I wish they still made them. It would be my daily driver....assuming I had to drive daily.

Your Escape likely had the same rust out warranty. How much good did that do for you ?
Guy at work had a small car made by Mitsubishi. He got really good life and service from it. It was just getting really old so he traded it off on a Jeep Renegade. I was surprised he did not get an Outlander not sure why but he did mention the Jeep dealer was offering $ 5,000 trade in on anything so I think that hooked him ! lol.
The other guy mentioned to older dodge truck. But Dodge had some other cars and engines from Mitsubishi that did not have as good of reputation ? but that was many years ago and things change a lot. If you have a dealer near by and check out an extended factory warranty I don't see how it would be much different than any other brand ? I can tell you stories of dud Honda's , Subaru's, Toyota's and even way more Ford's and dodges and even more yet GM products !
Myself we have been getting good service out of our Honda's so far.

I bought the 10 year old Escape at auction for $500.00. It came rusted. It may well have been on it's 2nd or 3rd owner before I got it. Are you saying rust warranties are worthless?

We bought a newer car this year, the only thing that turned me off the Mitsubishi were the dealership salesman.
I was very impressed with most everything about the car, and while they don't have big market share in NA, they
do in the rest of the world. I ended up getting a Kia a couple years older, low miles and high end trim package
for a pretty good price... and the sales guys were more tolerable.

My neighbour up the road just bought an Outlander PHEV, they can't stop talking about how great it is.

Read the small print on the 100K warranty. Sometimes they
make you do 3K oil changes...in their shop only.

It's not legal for them to require you to do that! Look up the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act! They cannot legally require you to have work done at a certain place or to use certain parts! PERIOD! If they say that they require that certain products be used then they have to provide the products for FREE! Do some research and inform yourself!

Yes sir Mrs jocco has one and we like it.
One other family member hs one. We have a
very good dealer yes 10 yar warranty but
very few issues. Good on gas to. They had
special program so it was priced very good
when we bought it. Also the darn thing was
made in dacater Illinois not Japan.

KCM ..... I had the same truck, one year newer so an '87, not sure how long they made them, mine was also a
Dodge brand. I think that 4 cylinder was a 2.8 L so lots of power. Had some cylinder head issues
eventually with head gaskets, etc. so I fixed it once and eventually sold it. I did like it, especially the
long box (long for a compact truck, seven feet I think).

Thanks to all. She bought it. She doesn't take me car shopping due to my record on making the car salesmen crazy by refusing to "play the game". Hate car salesmen.

As to why it was still on the lot, I dunno. It's from one of those huge dealerships with multiple locations across a few states. She's happy and her payment is $150@ month less, the AC works and she has 4wd. I still want another Suburban, used, for the big trips.
