I'm sure it's been covered before. Someone explain it for the new folks. What's the difference? Sway bars, stabilizer bars? I have flat bars that go from under fender brackets to pins on implement.......what are those called ?

sway bars preferred, or stabilizer bars...

however STAY bars are a whole different animal..

Kinda like the difference between deer nuts and beer nuts... beer nuts are 50 cents and deer nuts a just under a buck.

The bars stabilize implements by not allowing 3 point arms (and implement) to sway.
Sometimes its stabilizer chains with a turn buckle.
Sometimes its stabilizer baling wire because I couldn't find a chain or turn buckle.

Sway bars keep the equipment for swinging side to side. Stay bars go form the 3 point Arms up to the center link so the lift arms stay where they are and they cannot go up or down. The stay bars are used with the 3 point draw bar

Both "FORD" and "FERGUSON" use the same components....same terminology ...

Stay bars were originally equipped with a chain to fasten on the lift lever to keep from trying to raise the lift and bend the bars. I would shift the PTO out of gear, but then you had no PTO power. As the boss said" USE THAT D ___ CHAIN"!

Always thought a sway bar was a bar that swayed when you had too much to drink and a stay bar was when you stayed right there when you had too much to drink. Could be wrong but won't be the first time.
