Farmall 460 throttle

Good morning all. I recently drove my son?s Farmall 460 diesel. The throttle lever was extremely hard to move when I wanted to increase engine speed. Is there an adjustment or other solution to make this easier to adjust engine speed? Thanks in advance. I?ll also post this down below in the IH/Farmall forum.

The linkage that could cause difficulty moving the lever should be all external to the pump. Ruogh friction disks in the handle mount might also be a problem. Modest but firm pressure on the control is better than having the lever find new positions on its own. If the Pump control lever is difficult to move when disconnected from the linkage to the hand lever, the issue is internal to the pump. (not likely) Jim

Jim,
Thanks for the reply. I disconnected the pump linkage and it moved easily. With it disconnected I sprayed some penetrating oil on areas that joined each other or passed through casting. It finally started moving smoothly. I appreciate your insights, not only on this problem, but your comments to other posters.

Thanks. Dry lube like Triflow (dries after spray) it has Teflon lube in it (PTFE) will assist in keeping it free. Jim
