That is some serious Amish hp. Our Amish here
can?t have tractors or skid steers. Things like square
balers, manure spreaders, all get those Amish steel
wheels. And while local Mennonite group can have
tractors less than 100hp, no cabs allowed. And no
cars or trucks either.

The Amish here have rules that vary from area to area. They can have the most modern dairy barns, yet still pump water by hand for the house and use lanterns. Their bigger tractors are only available from the manufacturer with cabs, so out go the windows and the doors go off as well.

Would be interested in learning why they have the aversion to rubber tires- is there some basis for that in scripture? And on that subject, do they use the same bible as other Christian religions, or something different?

Dad restored buggies and wagons, and got to know an Amish family in Pennsylvania who were suppliers of the items he often needed. He even went back and visited them once. No cars for them. So he was surprised when several members of the family pulled up at his place in a van. Turns out they could drive a car on a once-in-a-lifetime trip, but not for everyday.

I live in a German settlement between a Bohemian settlement and a Mennonite community.

The Mennonite men here dress and live (and farm) pretty much like everyone else, but the women wear only plain dresses, no makeup, no jewelry, (wrist watch only) and always wear a lacy type of cap on the back of their head.

That could be the old order Mennonites over in Yates County. The blower would even have the rubber tires on it.
