Update, searching for older John Deere parts

About 10 days ago I posted a thread looking for parts to rebuild the steering on an 80s model JD 850 tractor. I was able to find my old thread, but for reasons I don't understand, it will not let me add a reply now:

The wise people here pointed me to a JD Parts Catalog, where the parts were listed as available, with prices, etc. This being the steering column in question:

To order, you have to choose a local dealer, which I did, and completed the order 10 days ago. Having heard nothing, I called today. They found the order, then said they can only get 1 of the 10 parts I ordered thru their website. Was told the rest are obsolete.

If anyone's interested, I ordered these from diagram: #2,#7,#8,#11,#15,#19,#20. I also order a seal and packing/gasket for the steering arm. The only part they can get is the bearing (#11) which IS the most crucial, I need two of them. They say they are enroute. We'll see.

So, I believe I'm back to seeking salvage, or third party sellers. A company called Hoye was suggested, any other likely suppliers?

Appreciate your patience, as you can see I don't know my way around here very well.

If you google those part numbers with john deere in front,
you find most of them.

Oh man. I don't know what has happened to my internet searching brain, but looking foolish is getting more common all the time.

I've found (I think) 4-5 more this way, and a couple of the ones I can't find are not essential, just thought I'd replace.

Assuming these 4-5 pan out, the main thing I'd be missing is CH12764, which they call a shim, but looks like a gasket to me. That could be dealt with I'd think.

I'll get busy seeing if these dealers come thru. Certainly appreciate the help, feeling dumb and all.

Is that a Yanmar John Deere? Hoye is the gray-market Yanmar parts dealer, and they could be helpful if yours is actually a Yanmar.

Was on a trip to the far east with a bunch of folks, and they were arguing over the spelling of the country Myanmar (formerly Burma). I told them it was easy- just put an M in front of yanmar the tractor. That netted me a bunch of blank looks.

Yes, its definitely a Yanmar. I sent them (Hoye) an email outlining the parts and situation. We'll see if they get back soon.

Part #CH12764 shows to be available with 1 in stock at Meridian Implement in Rockford, Illinois at 815-687-7051. Any time you have a part you can't find get on external_link.com and go roughly halfway down the page and you will see a section labeled "FARM EQUIPMENT ATTACHMENTS, COMPONENTS, DISMANTLED MACHINES & PARTS SEARCH". Type in the part number your looking for and if a dealer has it listed in their inventory it will come back the the contact information. I've found many obsolete parts this way, but i've also struck out just as much. Hope this helps.
