Update on kubota airconditioner

When I first put the gauge on it read about 20 that is the high side of the low.i put two twelve ounce cans in it and it didn't seem to go any higher. So I take it cold a side and its really blowing out cold air but less than a quarter mile it starts getting warm all of a sudden so I get off and look and the compressor is not running. I put the gauge on its still reading about the same in the high low area.so I put in another 12 ounce can slowly. Then like all of a sudden the compressor starts cycling about every three seconds and now the gauge is reading in the yellow when the compressor kicks on when it kicks back off it goes into the red then back to yellow when it starts again. I'm thinking I got to much in it and the high pressure switch is shutting it back off but I could be wrong.it is still cycling about every three seconds on and off.thanks Rick

Yes very common for folks to put too much in it. Most common problem is low air flow thru the condenser due to being stopped up with dust.

Sounds like there must be a major leak. Reading only 20 PSI with the compressor off is an empty system.

If it took 2 full cans and was cooling, then stopped cooling and started rapid cycling, must be low again.

But without having gauges on both the high and low sides, no way to know.

R134 is very picky about the charge level, not like the old R12, just charge it till it cools, you can't do that with 134.

If you just charged it, and can get back to it, get everything quiet, listen for a leak. Look for oil slinging from the front of the compressor.

The factor repair manual AC section is as about as good as it gets for repair of Any basic AC system... I recommend you throw your money down for the manual and READ it...

I do the local Bota dealers AC work when they haul one over I tell them to put the repair manual in the tractor :)

I have told them I would help their mechanics repair the AC are if they would just READ the manual it will lead them without my help... I did pizz them off they have not been back in awhile maybe they took my advice... I got tired of playing the 3rd party deal I got tired of we want a estimate when the estimate was when I am done and put a figure in the total space that's what you will pay are deal with the heat... We were dealing with groups that own 100's of acre's of horse farms and want a damm estimate...

I don't remember any of them taking over 2 lbs maybe 2.2 lbs they are a small system... You need a good set of gauges till them have fun... The #1 issue I ran into was evaporator leaks, #2 condenser stop slap up with trash "And they just cleaned the trash out"

Hobo, you are so correct. Air cond is basic but every system has their own little ways of hooking
things up. IH for instance, had a totally different electrical control from 86 series on up than
any one else I ever worked on. Estimate, yaa, right. Price when done.

There is a pressure switch that won't allow the compressor to run unless there is pressure in the system. You have a major leak. What happened is that when yout put in the first can the compressor ran till the pressure dropped. To find the leak, go to you tube and learn how.

Ok right now it is cycling about every 5 seconds when the compressor kicks in its reading 50 psi in the yellow zone when it shuts off it jumps up to 70 psi in the red danger zone goes back and forth every 5 seconds I'm no expert at this but isn't it telling me the pressure is to high to much in the system already.thanks Rick
