Pitiful looking crops

I do not think I have ever seen crops looking this pitiful, they are all different heights and with spots of no growth.

I saw 10 foot corn today, and down the road I saw a guy drilling beans. It is getting real late for beans here.

Recently went on a trip from MN to FL, with a different route coming back...
And crops look the same over much of the country we saw too - so it is widespread.

David I travel a lot and like you up in the gut of the nation the corn crop does not look good. We have had our share of flood outs and wet springs but this years weather here in my part of Tennessee has been perfect. I have the best potential for record crop that I have seen in all my farming. Corn already with ears and got another good rain today so just about over the hump unless we get a bad wind storm. I sure feel sorry for the Midwest guys this year. Going to try an post some photos of these Tennessee fields later. Those folks farming half sections of level flat land would go crazy trying to round up enough acres to make it profitable in these hills and river bottoms.

Plants don't survive dry weather very well when they start out wet, as they do not put down roots.

Same here in Central Ohio, and I hear it's even worse to the North West, where the land is much better.
