John Deere 40 hydraulic pump help

I have a John Deere 40 that has sheared the keyway inside the hydraulic pump, is this a special key that I can go find easily or do I have to buy a used pump?

It's still available from DEERE, but not cheap!

Notes say it's "special" and also that it's a "Size 8" and list dimensions.

The alloy key that size is a little over $8 at McMasters.

you might try one of the used part vendors (Green Magazine) for a replacement key.

And if the CHEAP key doesn't shear when there is a problem = $$$$$.

Same alloy key. Your cheap key can be had at any hardware store for less than a buck.
