Years ago when I worked for the government, I had a Jeep pickup catch fire. Like this picture it was parked and I was not inside the vehicle. The safety officer called me for a report, I explained in detail what happened, and he asked me if I had my seat belt fastened!

Back in the carburetor days, a major cause of engine fires was missing air filters. I suspect that's still the case.

Friend of ours is a 911 dispatcher. Several years ago he got call about a truck on fire in a parking garage downtown. As the caller started describing things to him, a light went on.....IT WAS HIS TRUCK......Talk about both the irony of him getting the call, and the bad luck....
