Upgrading a CASE Power Steering Pump To Delco Style

Power Steering Pump is weak on my 931 diesel. I'm thinking about putting an automotive style P/S pump on it, like this one. Does anyone have any feedback on this, or has anyone installed one before, or done something similar? Thanks in advance.

How do you know it is weak??? Yeh I know it wont turn the wheels -- but it may not be the pump. On my 930 the pulleys are so woren that with a new belt and tightened it still just slips. Granted that this is still no little job to fix but may save you some money fixing the problem and just not throwing parts and money at it till some thing happens. Look at the flat part of the pulley at the bottom of the V grove -- if it is shiny it is woren out ( the belt is bottoming out on the base of the pulley because the v grove is so woren.)

Forgot to add that in my case I figured it would be hard to find new or at least good used pulleys that I had decided to come up with a plan to run the power steering off the hydraulics at the back. You would need a flow divider that could be adjusted for the proper flow. I never got beyond the dream stage here as I cam across a 660 IH that started much easier in the winter and it had power steering and a loader.

I too would like to know why you think your pump is weak. Have you pressure checked it's output and how many PSI was it is delivering??? How are the seals down in the steering sector and have you checked them with a hand pump to see if they leak. There is a VERY GOOD chance that your only problem is slipping fan belts, caused by having the wrong ones on or the pump pulley being warn.

This is my 931 which has well over 10K. As long as I have good fan and PS belts on it, it steers as good as new. If the front of the tractor is weighted you have to be moving or the belts will squack and slip.

931, or 930? ,just looking at the decals on your tractor, and not that it really maters. LOL

A 931 is a row crop diesel. A 932 is a short wheel base/Western diesel. Same goes for 941 and 942 which are
gas tractors. All the decals have 930 on them not denoting the build or engine configuration.------Loren
