Splitting MF 150 at Eng./clutch hsg.

I'm splitting my MF150, AD3.152 diesel, multi power, at the engine/clutch housing due to oil presumably from input shaft seal leaks and oil on PTO clutch disc. I'll know when it's apart. As I loosened the bolts holding engine and clutch housing I started getting coolant dripping so I snugged the bolts up, and here I am. There is an intermediate plate casting about 1 1/2" thick between engine block and clutch housing. Does this plate cover a coolant port and is leaking? I cant find a diagram with this area in any manual. I know I can just unbolt and find out after draining coolant but thought I would ask here first.

I bet there is a Welch plug at the back of the engine that is crusty. Might as well keep splitting it and chase down the leak.

I guess you're right, might as well see what becomes of the split. Do you think there is a coolant port there or a leak?

That plate is just an adaptor/spacer plate. There should not be any coolant there. If I remember correctly there is a freeze/knock out plug in the back of the block behind that plate. So it might have rusted out and the plate was sealed good enough to hold the coolant pressure.

No coolant in the adapter plate.

Like others said, a freeze plug in the back of the block.

Or there is a bolt that goes all the way into the water jacket. May have been made that way, or a too long bolt was forced in and broke through into the water jacket.
