Many are hand made replicas. sometimes better than the original, sometimes intentionally kept non original, but usable. I have made parts for 100 year old starter motors to allow them to function. (end plate with bushings and brush holder fitments) Jim

I talked to a guy who was a serious IH collector once, he had a really serious machine shop, including his own boring mill. He had the capacity to do some pretty big workpieces. Their are still foundries around that will do custom casting, but bring $$$. I talked to a guy who had a steamer, he started to accumulate parts for his steamer years before he found one.
