What is this and what is it used for?

This machine is at a local tractor yard. It says Racine Hydraulic Pressor which looked up on google and did not find much. I was hoping someone here might know what it is used for and what it could be made into. Basically trying to find a reason to buy it as he wants 200 but doesn?t know what it is either. It looks to be complete and in pretty good shape. Electric start? Could it work for a log splitter? Any thoughts appreciated. Has a Wisconsin Tjd motor.

Yup really big tree trimming rig. Hydraulic pruning, and cutting saws. If that had a Diesel engine you could take it out to Aamish country and almost name you price. The Menanite would use it with a gas engine though. They use hydraulic saws all over the place. If the pump is not messed up 200 is a steal.

Thank you for responding. So can this be started as is or is it dead headed? I would guess it would have a relief in it but know nothing about it. Engine is loose and I am pretty sure I could make it run. I looked at my pics a bit better and see this list on the shroud supporting what you say.

That is probably not all of it.

I saw a crew use a hydraulic power unit on a cart like that once. they were putting electric cable under a concrete driveway. There was a framework that went into the hole on one side of the drive that had a hydraulic cylinder on it. it was hooked to a hydraulic power unit that looked a lot like that one, but said STANLEY on the side. It pushed a ram with a ball shaped head into the soil under the drive. When the cylinder ran out of stroke, they added another section and pushed again. eventually it came out in the hole on the other side of the drive. There was a loop at the front of the ball, they hooked their underground wire to it and pulled it back through the hole.

SIX gallon per minute is a big bucket load of oil. I personally, this is just me, i would NOT try to start it. Take it to a really good hydraulic service place and let them go over it first and let THEM start it. Might be perfect, or have water in it, bugs, dirt, crud, what ever. That is a big bad power unit and would be a shame to brake it. Hopefully the pump systems are fine.
