what a 1/2" makes

came thru the first toll booth on the Indian nation turnpike in Oklahoma and got pulled to the side cause I had a cultivator shank a little off the trailer. A lawman came out check out the load, ins, bill of sales, ect. then he took a tape and measured my load. 1/2" to wide.

I asked him for two minuets before the ticket book came out. I took an adjustable wrench and hammer out of the chain basket and took off the protruding shank.. I asked to be remeasured. 1" under limit so no ticket. The law man made a joke that farmers can fix anything with a hammer, wrench and bailing wire. I said naaa, just resourceful. After a hand shake I was on my way with just a warning (had to document the stop I guess)

A friendly encounter with a lawman just doing his job I guess

They have a job to do just like we do. I never get all jacked up if i get pulled over ,I am always polite and respectful. Try to make them
feel comfortable i roll down all my windows so they can see in the back seat also when they walk up. There just doing there jobs like us.

Got stopped in the small town where I live. 30+ in 25 zone.
By the time the cop got to the window of the p/u, I had my lisensce, registration and Insurance out.
HE said you got them already?!?! I said yep. He gave me a verbal warning and said see ya!!!
As someone said, for the most part, be nice to them, they'll be nice to you.

Yes most of them are pretty decent they really are . It?s the occasional Barney fife that is a little hard to deal with but you?ve just got to be extra nice to them because they?ve got a bigger **%? than you and they know it and he?ll be all to glad to show you so just do what you can to stay cool yes sir no sir sorry sir won?t happen again sir. I?ve learned at the port of entry?s don?t say a single word that you don?t have to and be as vague as possible I leaned that after one of the ports I went through twice a day I thought the guy was just making conversation well the next day he pulled me in and read me the riot act turned out I?d told him the run took 12 to 14 hours well it did by the time I left my house till the time I got back well he had been keeping tabs and the hours I told him didn?t calculate which lead to a full log book audit which I passed but Barney was sure he had me after that I learned just keep yer dumb mouth shut and make them work and ask exactly for anything and everything they want
