Got some parts ordered from YT, and while I was shopping I saw this. What's is for? Where does it go? Thanks.

"Wooden chain idler block, 5/8" hole. Fits Gleaner combine models: A, B, C, R, E, AH, CH."

Actually my 1570 Case tandom spreader has a wooden block for the chain tensioner to drive the apron chain.

I need to change the sprocket too as it's become quite hooked. Wooden idler is still good though.

I have an IHC one row corn picker that has a couple of them.
I used to make them all the time for Dad. Beat buying a
new sprocket!!

Case used them some too, my combines each have one or two on them. But they are used on many things where the chains turn realatively slow.

hard maple best as it will absorb the oil-grease to keep from wearing that other woods will not. It is what the factories used a hundred and more years ago as at that time found it the best.
