Mahinda 6000 almost together

But it lacks about 2 inches of sliding together. Common problem due to the clutch shaft in lining up to the disk splines exactly. If this was gas engine with a hand crank I would just pull the plugs out and spin it over so the splines would line up but this is a diesel and no place for hand crank. So the fight is on the get those last 2 inches closed up.

PTO is what we used when I put my Ford 3600 back together plus a screwdriver in the timing hole but Mahinda may not work like the Ford?

Ron, if you ever split a tractor you will understand why lifting anything when you are trying to align two 2000 pound objects within 1/32 of an inch isn't practical.

on this the PTO would not work it is another totally different shaft and below the clutch shaft and it to had to be turned so it would go into place but that was the last say 1/2 inch or less. I ended up using the starter to spin it over a bit and it then went together and is not 1 big piece instead of 2 big pieces not all the sheet metal etc. has to be put back on

This thing has a PTO that runs below the clutch shaft and it to had to be lined up to get thing the last 2 inches so nope that would not work

No. All I know is they where laying in the bottom of the rear end in the water and oil mix. Only thing that was big enough around for them to fit on was the rear axles but there was no groves for them to sit in. I can tell this is not the first time this one has been opened up so who ever was in it before may have used them to hold the inner rear axle bearing in till they got the bull gears on. I had to get help from my neighbor to get both the bull gears on since you had to be at bth end of the axle at the same time to slide the gears on

Old, whenever someone is asking about splitting a tractor I suggest getting it level front to back first by putting a level at the bottom of the block and putting boards under tires if needed. Replacement tires can put a tractor out of level and virtually impossible to line up.

That is why I use chain hoists to hold tractors and parts up you can adjust things to be in line with little to no problem. Plus I use guide bolts so i know things are lines up even if I have to destroy the bolts which I had to do on this one

That is why my shop is built as it is so I can do things with out having to over do my self. 5 chain hoists and an I-beam that runs pretty much the length of the shop helps a whole lot. But yes I prefer the older tracto-r i-n the say 50hp size and small. I can take say an 8N ford and have it down for a new clutch in less then 2 hours

I can remember on the 150 horsepower fords having two or 3 guys wiggling and measuring with a dial caliper to make sure we were within thousandths of an inch to get em to slide together . Some of the fords on the second split had two or 3 shafts to line up
